God Answers Prayer

I cannot comprehend just how amazing God is, seriously people He is outstanding! In fact, outstanding is not even close to what He is! Recently I heard a message that reminded me that God does in fact answer prayer, He will always give us what we need. The key word there is ‘need’ not ‘really want’ or ‘wish for’ but needs.

I suppose needs vary from person to person but God knows the difference between us ‘wanting’ something and ‘needing’ something. I also heard on Sunday morning during my father-in-laws preaching that when we pray we need to pray truly believing that God will answer that prayer. That sounds simple hey, but how many times do we pray just saying the words and not truly believing with our heart that God will answer that prayer?

So it’s simple, believe when your are praying to God and leave it in God’s hands because He will figure out if it’s something you really need. That’s not to say that God won’t grant you some wants as well, He’s a loving God but the bottom line is, we need not worry about the day ahead because God’s got it under control!

Jeff and I have seen God answer so many prayers in our lives lately, both big and small. We know that we shouldn’t worry about tomorrow, a week or years ahead because He’s already taken care of it!

These are just a few verses in God’s word that show He will look after our needs and that He is a prayer answering God.

Matthew 6:8
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened

Mark 11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them

Matthew 6:34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

What She Baked

I have a sweet tooth and the other week I just wanted chocolate cake. We didn’t have any eggs or much butter and even though we live super close to the shops, I couldn’t be bothered walking there or spending any money. I jumped on google and found this ‘Simple Chocolate Cake’ recipe that is egg and dairy free. When you read the ingredients and see vinegar don’t freak out! It’s a very yummy cake but quite bland and not too sweet. To give it a bit more sweetness I make up a mock cream chocolate icing with my left over butter and covered it with coconut. It seemed to do the trick and delicious!

Willow Tree

At the moment Jeff and I (more me) are thinking a little bit about how we’d like to decorate our house. We’re going for simple decor and seem to have a ‘red’ theme happing in the main living area. We can’t afford to buy everything at once so over time we are just going to buy a few things we like. I doubt we’re going to need much!

Lately I’ve been looking at these beautiful Willow Tree figurines in the shops and on ebay. I’m not normally into little figurines no matter how sweet they are because they are a pain in the butt to clean but I seem to have a thing for these ones! I just love that they are so simple and delicate looking and that you can buy different ones to reflect different times in your life. I would never dream of collecting them all (that’s not why I like them) but I’d love to buy some of the ones that reflect our life together! I have this gorgeous prayer Willow Tree figurine that my cousins gave me for my birthday a long time ago and to me it reflects the beginning of my faith in God.

I also found on ebay last night a Christmas Nativity set made by Willow tree which I intend to save up for (I say save up, no buy because they are so expensive!)

I’m also quite a bit obsessed with wall decals at the moment. I’ve found lots that I’d love to buy and put around the house but again, they are really quite expensive so I need to be sure I’ll like them and want to keep them for a long while! I’ve spent numerous hours on ebay looking through all of the different ones you can buy and dreaming about where I would put them!

Hopefully soon I might bring myself to buy one of them or the Willow Tree figurine that I’d like!

Mary Poppins

For the past few months I’ve been looking at tickets to go and see Mary Poppins. I absolutely LOVE seeing stage shows and after missing out on seeing Wicked (booo) I really wanted to see Mary Poppins. Everyone who’d been to it had raved about how good it was and I tried many times to convince Jeff that we should go. He’s not really into musicals but he agreed we could go. For many reasons we never got around to buying any tickets and I was pretty disappointed.

A few weeks ago Mum told me that some of the teachers we know we’re going to see it and would I like to go? I jumped at the chance and last night we set off to Brisbane in the rain for dinner and the show.

It was brilliant and I couldn’t take my eyes off the stage the whole time. The dancing, music, singing, stage sets, tricks and just everything was excellent. I would highly recommend you see it even if you’re not a big fan of the movie Mary Poppins. I’m really glad I got to see it and hopefully in the future I might be able to see a few more. Lion King is coming back to Sydney I hear (nudge, nudge Jeff!!!)

Dress up ready to go!

Yummy dinner

A Sick Little Snuggle Dog

For months now our little Snug dog has not been very well and lately she has been getting worse and worse. Not in pain, just losing a lot of weight and muscle tone, eating and drinking excessively and that food and water has to go somewhere....! She hasn’t got the energy she used too and whilst she’s getting quite a bit old, we still thought it was strange and deep down knew something was wrong with her.

Just before we moved into our new house we took her to visit her ‘friend the vet’ for her annual check up and he pointed out some things to us that didn’t seem quite right with Snuggles health wise and told us what it could be. He explained that it could all be up down to stress from the move or it could be something else. He told us to go away for a few months and let her settle into the house and see if she improves... she did not improve!

After getting very sick from a bout of doggie gastro, we decided it was time to test her for the disease that the vet thought she might have. She has had urine tests and several blood tests over the past 2 weeks and last night it as confirm that she has a disease called Cushings.

So what is Cushings? Basically in 85% of cases (which is what Snuggles has) it’s a tumour in the brain that is very rarely cancerous and is producing too much of a hormone called Cortisol. In the other 15% of cases it is a tumour on the adrenal glands (near the liver) that is also producing too much Cortisol but in most cases it’s a cancerous tumor that needs to be removed and will cure the illness. In snuggles case they cannot operate because it’s in the brain steam and she wouldn’t survive the surgery.

So to treat the disease Snugs will be on morning and evening medication for the rest of her life (easy to give liquid YAY!) but with any hope it will help her gain back her weight and muscle tone, giver her more strength, thicken out her fur and give her a new lease on life! The good thing about this disease is that it doesn’t cause any pain to the dog but just gives them old age symptoms and they just want to sleep a lot. I’m praying that the medication helps her get back to her old self and we can go for some walks again and run down the beach!

We love you Snuggles and hope you feel much better very soon!

The Day of Love

Of course everyday should be a day filled with love and joy but every year on the 14th February people all around the whole spend up big for this commercialised day known as Valentine’s Day and Jeff and I love celebrating it. This year it was extra special because we got to celebrate this day of love for the first time in our very own house!

We kept it simple and filled the house with candles for a beautiful candle lit dinner and just relaxed and enjoyed a night of doing nothing but chilling out! Jeff bought me home some beautiful pink roses (from Mum and Dad’s rose garden) and bought me my favourite chocolates and some other flowers as well! I’m very spoilt young lady and totally didn’t expect anything. I have everything I need after all!

So this Valentine’s day was simple but very special and romantic for the both of us, I wish we could be bothered to make every day like this one!!!

I love you my wonderful husband! xo

A Place to Call Home

It’s now been a little over two months since we moved into our brand new house and for most of that time I’ve been wanting to add this post to the blog but just haven’t had the time or motivation to get it finished! We’ve been super busy with moving, unpacking, setting up, deliveries of furniture, Christmas, visitors, New Years and generally settling in to this new place. Jeff’s been busy at work and I’ve actually had a lot of work for the first 3 weeks back at school (YAY!)

But at long last I’ve taken a series of photos to share our new house with you all so I hope you enjoy seeing the home that we’ve set up for ourselves. We’ve done very little decorating or landscaping but we’ve decided to do this over time as we see things we like and the funds become more available to us!

The front of our house... take note of the mown grass!

Even though it wasn't in our plans, we got a driveway put in and I am very glad we did!

Our lounge room!

The TV and coffee table!

The table as you come in the front door and our canvas wedding photo! I love it!

Our bedroom

When we were just at design stage I really wanted the bathroom, toilet and laundry to be setup to let lots of light into the house. I'm glad we fiddle with this area for a long time because it's perfect!
